SAP BO Universe designer (UDT):
-->this is the first generation modeling tool from business objects developed in 1990's
--> this tool supports partially for sap data sources while modelling till BOXI R3 versions all companies using bo tool were using this tool for modelling
--->in SAP BO 4.0 we have 2nd generation modeling tool IDT which has lot of advantages than this tool. older vesions universes can be opened here, opened in IDT as per the project requierement.

Connection Types in UDT:
file---> new
step1--> name your universe
define new connection by selecting new option in connections
in the connection window
-->define ur connection name
--->configure ur connection type
---> connections are 3 types
persona
secured
shared
if we select secure only we can export universe other 2 are not secured and no rights.
in real time we use secure connection as part of security and for universe to be transported/published to the server.
